Our Presentation at ARLIS/NA
Yesterday we did a presentation at ARLIS/NA 53rd Annual Conference.
ARLIS/NA, the Art Libraries Society of North America, put out a call for “Queer and Trans Digital Communities and Resources,” we got in touch, they accepted and ta-da! We became part of this amazing event despite the fact that we’re not an art library! (Big thanks to Elias for getting this panel together!)
We like doing these types of things because (1) we like to talk about Mapping Trans Joy, of course, but also (2) we love learning about other projects.
We also love sharing other projects. And in that spirit. Here are some projects from our fellow-presenters.
Queer Metadata Collective
The Queer Metadata Collective is a group of cataloguers, librarians, archivists, scholars, museum and information professionals with a concerted interest in improving the description and classification of queer people in Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums, and Special Collections (GLAMS) and other information systems. The Collective’s primary goal is to develop a set of best practices for the description, cataloging, and classification of queer information resources in GLAMS.
Wiki Loves Pride 2025
Wiki Loves Pride 2025 is a global campaign to expand and improve LGBT-related content across all Wikimedia projects, organized by Wikimedia LGBT+. It takes place throughout the entire month of June in celebration of the International LGBT Pride Day.
We also learned about the Trans Metadata Collective, the Museum of Trans Hirstory and Art! Good fun!
